Thank you for this! I was able to change mine thanks to this video and others. I paid $12.99 for the sensor itself and would have paid a garage over $400. On a side note, I called around and Auto Zone and Advanced Auto parts had the sensor for around $70-$100. A&A Auto had it for $12.99. I’m so grateful for videos like these.

there's a little hose just under the oil filter, towards the bottom left of the filter, does anybody know what hose that is?

appreciate the video. i always do a bit of research before jumping into a project. i found this to be very helpful. i knew exactly what to expect. i found the oil pan gasket had been recently replaced. however, the metal rings from the old gasket were still on the studs. so when i yanked the old gasket there were several studs with 2 metal rings. i think i found the culprit.

Those 10mm bolts at the back of the upper intake manifold are impossible to get to. How on earth did you get to them with just an extended 10mm socket? I can’t get a purch on it not even with a universal joint I am pulling my hair out

Do you need to drain the engine oil ?

For those doing this replacement, putting the car on ramps is much safer than jackstands. Then, if you remove the splash shield, which is very easy and fast to do, it makes it much easier to get the connector apart and off and back onto the post. Mando is the OE supplier of the sensor, and many parts supply houses carry this brand.

Fuckkk BMWs ! So hard to reach the ET12 , my wrench to wide hitting the transmission. This is not a beginner maintenance. You must be very professional and have all the necessary tools for this type of job

I have a 2011 with this very same problem. I ordered the kit and I'm going to do the job over a couple of days. It's very involved but not impossible. I just have to take it slow because I'm undergoing cancer treatment

The harmonic balancer on these 2.4’s should be removable by hand in most cases. No need for the puller.

Would you recommend getting aftermarket high performance spark plugs or just stick to genuine mopar spark plugs

Thanks for taking us along for the "ride". The steps you laid out and the torque specs are greatly appreciated. I'm not sure why. if you went so deep into repairing that engine, why you didn't do the water pump while you had everything apart. Also why you didn't use new Cam Solenoids? At least clean them using a 9 volt battery and a glass of gas or B12 cleaner. The top was full of Sludge. Also the intake has an internal "PCV" section that clogs up. That must of needed to be cleaned out as well. Maybe the Seafoam Treatment your going to use will address that issue?

Do put your oil cap back on and put a rag gently inside your throttle body before removing coil packs to prevent dropping anything into your engine.

Why do you cut the part out that shows you put the alternator back in? The install is the biggest part of installing something, and you just cut it out.

Its a 15 minute job. You can do it without jacking it up.

Why buy a new existing manifold? Get a nickel rod, heat it up, and weld it. Clean the rust off first.

Only thing left that must be done is a UV protectant. A LOT of YT are passing on bad info that you should use some 2K protectant spray. Problem is, most of the recommended 2K protectant sprays are for PAINT, not Lexan. Both of those are very different in moisture retention, etc, and you want to get a protectant that is made specifically for Lexan. Not a big difference in price, and most of the 3M kits have the appropriate protectant for Lexan. If you are going to do a lot of this, its just as easy to get several different wet sandpaper grits, and a bottle of cutting compound and polishing compound and a couple different pads that will work out much cheaper than $15 a set. Just remember to re-apply the UV coating every 6-12 months depending upon where you are.

Aren't those pieces bonded together, which means the part failed such that it slid down and the tensioner is now pushing against the thin rib? How many miles were on this engine?

Fantastic video, most say/show having to drop the engine! 170K on my 06 Murano, and timing still seems good, no rattle noticed. Only thing I can see that might make it easier is to pull as many things like the overflow canister out completely to make more room, probably a few other things as well. Great video so far. Also, I found I Do Cars recently, and he tears down an engine every week and its both awesomely scary with the complexity on some engines, and very instructive on how damaging it is trying to save a few bucks stretching out cheap oil changes at the cost of internal problems, carboning up oil control rings, etc. Also #2, isn't it also good practice to replace the water pump while in there?
